Community Environmental Centres are waste management facilities that provide residents with a convenient location where they can drop off a variety of materials including reusable goods, recyclables and building materials. CECs provide residents with another option to increase their reuse and recycling efforts in York Region.

A house made out of shipping containers is probably not the first thing that springs to mind when one thinks of home, sweet home.But a handful of Canadian entrepreneurs are hoping the eco-friendly construction trend becomes the norm.

Creating altered books is something anyone can do because there are no rules and your only limitation is your own imagination. Transform discarded books into art, a challenge to create something new from books that are no longer ysed. You can use books you have at home, from used book stores or book sales at the library. A selection of free books will be available at the Main Public Library.

Habitat ReStores are retail outlets where quality, used and surplus building materials are sold at a fraction of normal prices.

Working computers refurbished and made available to residence who cannot afford a new computer system. This diverts working PIII computers and up away from the landfill site and put back into use for learning, communication, and searching for information.
